Mitchell Klein joined the Z-Wave Alliance in September 2015, following 30 years in the CE and smart home industries. As the director of business development for Universal Remote Control for eight years, Klein was a key member of the senior team that grew URC from a remote control company to a smart home integration system supplier to the CEDIA channel, along the way transforming the company into a dealer-focused system supplier by developing multi-level strategies for new products and dealer training. The CEO at the award-winning integration firm Media Systems for 14 years, Klein also co-founded industry consulting firm StayTuned LLC and launched CEDIA’s certification programme—it’s first regional events and media tours as its two-term president. Klein talks with HiddenWires about the Z-Wave Alliance’s goals for the next few years as well as the organisation’s role in establishing a leading standard in the evolution of the Connected Home.

Mitchell Klein has been named executive director of the Z-Wave Alliance, succeeding Mark Walters as leader of the home automation group. Walters, who ran the organization since 2011, joined the rival ZigBee Alliance earlier this year. Klein joins Z-Wave after eight years in business development at URC, manufacturer of universal remotes and whole-house audio, video and control systems for professional integrators.
