Ever since I got my Wink Hub 2, one of the services I kept seeing in conversations when trying to bridge together different smart appliances and services was Stringify. The app was limited to iOS though, so I never got to use it because I wasn’t going to carry my iPad around all the time to toggle a light bulb. But at CES, Stringify made a few announcements that we just came across (excuse the delay, we had tons of emails and releases to sift through) and that are sure to please Android users.

The battle for digital domination is about to get serious.

San Francisco last week was playing the big game of Who is it? as everyone tried to figure out who had taken over the Bill Graham Civic Center, parked a brigades worth of security in front of it, and was busy knocking out windows and dropping power generators all around the building.

Was it a political announcement? A secret concert? Nope, turned out to be Apple taking over the joint for a big announcement this month.

Cortana, Microsofts voice-powered digital assistant, is moving from Windows-based phones and PCs to the Android platform as part of Microsofts efforts to expand beyond its own ecosystem. A public beta version of Cortana for Android has become available here for consumers who want to replace Androids Google Now voice-activated assistant. Microsoft is also working on bringing Cortana to Apples iOS mobile devices to replace Siri.
